In Our Schools

Our schools should be places where all students are free to learn and thrive. We also believe that every school needs a water refilling station that provides safe, clean drinking water for students.

Sanctuary Schools

Our schools should be places where all students are free to learn and thrive, regardless of immigration status.

Lead Free Drinking Water

Unsafe levels of lead were reported in drinking water in 1 of every 4 of the B.C. schools in 2018, including eight schools with levels more than 100 times higher than the allowable limit. Carrie Bercic, OneCity's School Trustee, is the only Trustee who has brought the issue forward for a public vote at the School Board. You can add your name to OneCity's Lead Free Drinking Water Petition to help Carrie and OneCity School Board candidates protect Vancouver students.

Anti-Racist Education

The Vancouver School Board’s overall anti-racism strategy needs more programs geared to Vancouver’s current realities and emerging needs, and more staff to do that work.

Hire Teachers and Meet Student Learning Needs

In Vancouver, we are not currently meeting the requirements of the Supreme Court decision on classroom size and composition. Vancouver School Board classes must be organized from the start of the school year to meet these limits. To do this, we need more teachers.
