Unsafe levels of lead were found in drinking water in 25 per cent of B.C. schools, some of which are in Vancouver. There is no safe level of lead exposure. Currently, the School Board tests the drinking water only every few years and then shuts off the water fountains that are contaminated. We believe every school needs a water refilling station that provides safe, clean drinking water for students.
I support OneCity School Board Trustee candidates Carrie Bercic, Jennifer Reddy and Erica Jaaf who, if elected on October 20th, will make safe, lead-free drinking water a top priority in Vancouver schools.
