Labour Listening Session

Over the next few months, OneCity is engaging with the local labour movement to ensure that our policy and our practice reflects our commitment to working people in Vancouver, and ensuring that workers' needs are reflected in the decisions of our City Council and School Board. We will be engaging organized labour through three listening sessions. In each a panel of workers' representatives will present issues of concern to working people.

Join us on Tuesday, May 11 to listen with us!

Karen Ranalletta, President of CUPE 2950 will be our moderator.

Our panelists will be:

Irmak Bahar, Community Organizer for UNITE HERE Local 40, will speak in part about ways that elected officials can support local union struggles.
Kim Novak, President of UFCW Local 1518, will speak in part on the need to support gig workers.
Andrea Duncan, Vice-president of BCGEU Component 3, will speak to the role of local government in delivering accessible and affordable childcare in our city.
Chuka Ejeckam, Research Director for the BC Federation of Labour, will speak to the need to not leave working people behind in our policies about the climate crisis.
