“I am pleased to endorse Steve Cardwell for a position on the Vancouver School Board. Steve is eminently qualified, having served with distinction at every level in education.

Steve was an outstanding leader; knowledgeable, caring, present and a wonderful communicator. He cares deeply about students and is a tireless advocate for student voice and agency. He was extremely supportive to teachers and never missed an opportunity to visit schools and spend time in classrooms watching the extraordinary work teachers do every day.

As an administrator I could always count on Steve, in spite of his busy position as superintendent, to be interested in what we were doing in schools, and to care about our struggles and triumphs, and to have practical and collaboratively arrived at solutions when issues came up. He understands that real support for teachers is the key to a successful system.

I can think of no better man to sit on the Vancouver schoolboard and I endorse him wholeheartedly. He is a man that understands that a vibrant, progressive, collaborative and ultimately truly effective educational system starts with board leadership. I can’t wait to see him back at the VSB!”
