On behalf of the OneCity Vancouver School Board team of Trustee candidates, we send our encouragement to the staff staff and membership of IUOE Local 963 as they enter this critical time in the collective bargaining process.
It's thrilling that IUOE's membership is so united, delivering a 96.9% vote in favour of taking strike action.
In the face of concessions that the current Vancouver School Board has put on the table, proposing to devalue IUOE members' work and qualifications, it's very encouraging to see that members are standing so strongly together to assert their value and rights.
The OneCity Vancouver School Board candidates, Rory Brown, Krista Sigurdson, Sherry Breshears, Steve Cardwell, and Christopher Lee know the important work that IUOE members deliver in Vancouver public schools. From Power Engineers to Cafeteria Workers to Supervision Aides, the work of IUOE 963 members provides essential, qualified, experienced and stable service to Vancouver families.
The choice in the upcoming Vancouver School Board election is clear: four more years of ABC chaos, or stability, respect and progress for Vancouver families with OneCity Vancouver Trustees.
