Protect Vancouver's Living Wage
Vancouver City Council has voted to end its status as a certified living wage employer.
This means leaving hundreds of non-unionized workers like cleaners, security guards, and maintenance staff without the pay raise they rely on to keep up with the rising cost of living.
People who work for the City of Vancouver should be able to afford to live in the City of Vancouver. That’s what the living wage means and OneCity stands behind it.
Join our call to reinstate Vancouver's living wage
We cannot let Vancouver go back on its promise to be a certified living wage employer. Workers should earn enough to live here, especially in a city with a high cost of living after a year of record inflation. OneCity Councillor Christine Boyle voted to continue to have Vancouver be a Living Wage employer. The decision was made in camera and just released publicly.
By signing this petition, you’ll show that residents don’t agree with this decision and urge the Mayor and Council to reverse their decision.
Petition Text:
We, the undersigned, call on the Mayor and Council to reconsider their decision to stop being a living wage employer.
Backing out of the living wage promise will leave non-unionized workers like cleaners, security guards, and maintenance staff without the pay raise they need to keep up with the increasing cost of living.
As residents and taxpayers, we urge the Mayor and Council to prioritize the well-being of City workers and the wider community. Don't leave workers behind in a time when the cost of living is sky-high.
