Tell the VSB: We need childcare in schools!
On May 10th, ABC Trustees approved a big budget of $700 million for the Vancouver School Board (VSB). But, they said “no” to crucial changes proposed by OneCity trustee Jennifer Reddy. The ABC Trustees said “no” to better funding for childcare. In addition, they chose to cut Adult Education, reduce food programs, and lower the budget for school supplies even more.
Parents know: only 39% of before-and after-school care need is being met in Vancouver.
The Vancouver School Board can help meet those needs - through expanded childcare options on-site, so that parents can work without worrying about their children being taken care of.
Their decision is not good for childcare funding. But it shows that we need to stay united and advocate for parents and children together.
